Bell awaiting installation at St Barnabas Penny Lane Mossley Hill
A peal of 8 bells are being installed at St Barnabas, Penny Lane with the help of the Merseyside Bell Restoration Group and the Keltek Trust. To quote their web site:
"The
Keltek
Trust is helping the parish of St Barnabas, Liverpool with its
millennium project of installing a ringing peal of bells; using our Bell
Rescue Fund we acquired the ring of six bells from the redundant church of St
James, Waterfoot, Lancashire. The Trust also located two surplus bells which
will be used with the ex-Waterfoot ring to complete the octave.
St Barnabas church is situated at one end of Penny Lane - made famous by a
1960's Beatles song. Hopefully it will not be too long before church bells sound
out along Penny Lane.
We are pleased to be assisting the Merseyside Bell Restoration Group with
this project. The MBRG are a registered charity who help churches in the
Merseyside area to restore, augment or install bells. Link to the Merseyside
Bell Restoration Group web site.
The
surplus Taylor bell from St Barnabas has become the new tenor bell at
St Peter ad Vincula, Coggeshall, Essex. "
