St Barnabas parishioners formed a close bond with the Myklebust family during their short stay in Liverpool. Here's the family's first message from their new base in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia:

Dear all of you in St. Barnabas church! We apologize for not writing before... We arrived safely at the 12th of May after one week in London and do now live in the capital Addis Ababa where we will follow lessons in Amharic from 4th of June and Ida Marie will attend the Norwegian School which is located here. We are all healthy and our flat has 2 bedrooms and is quite nice. This picture is from the main road outside our compound (our compound is owned by the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesu) and will be paved before millennium. You see, the year is here 1999 and New Year will be a great event...

This paper is from the preschool days at the Norwegian School and says that 5-6 pupils will start in the first class this autumn. The hole school has 22 pupils from 1-8 class.

At the 17th of May, which is the Norwegian National Day, there was a nice celebration at the compound where the Norwegian school is situated. We got to know many of the other missionaries, and we learn to drive a car in Addis, which is a bit different:

We feel that our main task now is to settle down, build a home and get to know the other persons in this kind of "company". From June language study will absorb most of our time and we hope we can do some good to this beautiful, but poor country one day.

We remember St Barnabas with happiness and the picture was the first to be hang on our wall. We wish you all the best and good luck with the important work of spreading the good message in Liverpool. Greetings to Lynne from Ida Marie! Now she has got some girls to play with, but what would we have done in Liverpool without GFS?

Love and Greetings from Siri, Andreas, Johannes and Ida Marie, Language School Boarding, P.O Box 5540 Makanissa, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
