Fish & Chip Shop on Penny Lane
St Barnabas Parish, Mossley Hill covers an eclectic area of south Liverpool including the prosperous Allerton Road shopping area. Much of the housing stock is either typical 19th C terraced housing or early to mid 20th C semi-detached suburbia. It encompasses the world famous Penny Lane. It includes a large amount of open space, the Grove Mount Playing fields and the recently constructed Millennium Green. The parish extends from the Wavertree Playground, Liverpool L15 to Rose Lane, Liverpool L18 in one direction and Allerton Rd / Smithdown Rd, Liverpool L18 to Briardale Rd, Liverpool L18 in the other. Its rather odd, seemingly erratic boundaries reflect its 1914 formation having been carved out of the then Parish of SS Matthew and James, Mossley Hill, part of whose original boundaries were those of Toxteth Park.
